ROAM Fitness – Fit To Fly

You guys. BWI has a gym. And not just like a yoga room “gym”…but a real gym!
I repeat,Β Baltimore–Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is the home of ROAM Fitness – the very first airport gym behind security in the United States.
If you think it sounds cool, that’s because it is. With how much my husband and I have been traveling this summer (and living so close to the airport), I was lucky enough to get to try it out!

Before you go jumping to conclusions…
When we think airports, we see dollar signs flashing before our eyes (at least I do). Everything is typically so expensive, but not ROAM. A day pass is only $25!
Forgot your workout clothes? Not a problem. They have the best brands (um, hello, lululemon) available to rent (included) or purchase. Even sneakers!
Worried about what to do with your smelly clothes? ROAM will vacuum seal them up for you.
Need a shower? They’ve got you. Reserve your 15 minute shower time upon arrival and then enjoy the rainwater shower heads. Even if you don’t want to work out, the showers are available with all types of memberships or day passes. No more worrying about washing up for work after that red eye.
Your phone is about to die from all of your airplane mode Spotify browsing? There are outlets in every single locker!

Now for the important stuff…
ROAM features the best of the best in equipment – cardio machines, free weights up to 50lbs, TRX straps, foam rollers, BOSU and medicine balls, and more. Or if you prefer just to unwind on the mat, there is designated space for stretching and abs (post-flight yoga anyone??). Plus, Bluetooth connected devices – you can even use Alexa!
They take the worry of missing your flight updates out of the way, because there are two display boards you can keep an eye on. And when you are all finished with your sweat sesh, the showers are stocked with towel service, hair dyers, Malin+Goetz products, and everything else you could possibly need. All complimentary.

The masterminds behind ROAM really thought of everything. I don’t know how many times I have searched the terminal high and low for a snack or meal that wasn’t going to ruin my diet. ROAM has an entire selection of the best on the market – RXBAR and Picky Bars, plus water bottles, individual Aloha protein packets, and the Blender Bottle you’re gonna need to mix it all up. Right there at the front desk.

And we are all elite members!
Whether you are frequent traveler for business or pleasure, ROAM is for everyone. They are there to make the airport a little more welcoming and little less sterile.
Maybe you are just stepping foot in Baltimore for a hot second, then the day pass is perfect you. But there are monthly and annual options too – $100 for the month or $350 for a year. Plus, the yearly pass comes with the ability to book your workouts and showers online. Perks on perks on perks!
As more ROAM Fitness facilities open,Β the day passes will be usable at other locations too.
If you are aΒ Priority Pass or Lounge Key member, ROAM is already your partner — receive a 20% discount on a day pass when you visit ROAM Fitness in-person.
Special day pass rates for active military members as well.

And probably the best news for frequent travelers is that ROAM has goals – they’re just like us! While we set our fitness goals and intentions, ROAM hopes to have two additional airport locations by the end of the year, five more in 2018, and twenty or more in the years to follow! I am so excited to watch them grow.
Don’t forget to refill your water bottle on your way out!

Still have questions? ROAM’s FAQ page has the answers.
